Chostakovitch

Né à Saint-Petersbourg, le 12 septembre 1906, mort à Moscou, le 9 août 1975.

Dmitri Chostakovitch est né dans les troubles de l'échec de la Révolution de 1905. Son père, descendant d'une lignée de révolutionnaires, est inspecteur général des poids et mesures, sa mère est pianiste. Elle lui donne ses premières leçons de piano.

En 1917, un camarade de son âge est tué devant lui, dans la rue, par un gendarme de la police tzariste.

En 1919, il est admis au Conservatoire de Leningrad où il étudie le piano avec Leonid Nicolaïev et la composition avec Maximilien Steinberg.

Son père décède en février 1922. Pour subvenir à ses besoins, il joue dans les cinémas.

Au début de l'année 1923, suite à une poliomyélite des ganglions lymphatiques, il est opéré et passe l'été en convalescence à Gaspra en Crimée. Il y rencontre Tatania Glivenko, fille d'un philologue renommé, amoureux, il lui dédie son 8^e trio.

Il achève la composition de sa première symphonie en 1925 qui est créée par l'orchestre philharmonique de Leningrad, sous la direction de Nikolaï Malko. Des chef comme Bruno Walter, Otto Klemperer, Leopold Stokowski ou Arturo Toscanini, lui donennt une audience internationale.

En 1927, il participe au 1^er concours Chopin de Varsovie où il est gratifié d'une mention honorable. Il compose ensuite de nombreuses musiques pour la scène et le cinéma.

Indécis dans sa relation avec Tatania Glivenko qu'il ne veut pas épouser, elle se marie en 1929. Ils se voient toujours, Chostakovitch attend trois ans pour lui proposer une vie commune, proposition qu'elle ne prend pas au sérieux. Elle accouche en avril 1932, et rompt tout contact avec le compositeur.

En 1932, l'Union des Compositeur de l'Union Soviétique est créée, le 13 mai de la même année, il épouse Nina Varzar, jeune astrophysicienne.

Il crée en 1934, son opéra Lady Macbeth du district de Mzensk qui est sévèrement critiqué par un article de la Pravda le 28 janvier 1936, après 180 représentations.

Galina, son premier enfant naît le 30 mai 1936, ce qui met un terme à une procédure de divorce entamée.

En 1937 il enseigne au Conservatoire de Leningrad. Le 10 mai 1938 son fils Maxime vient au monde.

De1939 à 1941 il est professeur de composition au Conservatoire de Leningrad.

Il est lauréat du Prix d'état en 1941. Le 5 mars 1942, sa symphonie Leningrad est créée à Kouïbychev par l'orchestre du Bolchoï sous la direction de Samuel Samossoud (1884-1964). Le 29 juin, elle est jouée à Londres sous la direction de Henry Wood. La partition voyage à travers lemonde sous forme de microfilm et Toscanini dirige la symphonie à New Yorkavec le NBC Symphony orchestra. La partition parvient à Leningrad encerclée. L'œuvre, symbolisant la résistance à l'envahisseur nazi y est jouée une première fois le 9 août.

Chostakovitch est lauréat du Prix d'état en 1942 et reçoit le Prix Staline.

Il s'installe à Moscou en 1943, où il est professeur de composition jusqu'en 1948, il enseigne également de nouveau au conservatoire de Leningrad de 1945 à 1948.

Il est lauréat du Prix d'état en 1946.

En 1948, il est de nouveau l'objet d'attaques idéologiques.

Prokofiev, Chostakovitch et Khatchatourian à Moscou en 1945.

En 1949, il est délégué à la Conférence mondiale de la paix aux états-Unis.

Il est lauréat du Prix d'état en 1950 et 1952. En 1954 il porte le titre d'Artiste du Peuple Soviétique et reçoit le Prix International Lénine, en décembre de la même année, Nina Varzar, son épouse meurt du cancer provoqué par les radiation qu'elle étudiait en Arménie dans le laboratoire d'Artiom Alikhaniyan, qui était également son amant.

En 1956, il rencontre Margarita Kainova, membre pour les jeunesses communistes d'un jury musical. Ils se marient peu de temps après. Il se séparent en 1959.

Il est de nouveau à Moscou en 1958 et reçoit la même année le Prix Lénine.

En 1960, il adhère au Parti communiste, la même année il est élu Premier secrétaire de l'Union des Compositeurs.

Il se marie pour la troisième fois avec Irina Supinskaya, qui a tout juste 27 ans, en novembre 1962.

Et en 1966, il est gratifié du titre de héros du travail socialiste.

Symphonie n° 11, dite année 1905.

Composée en 1957 pour commémorer le 40e anniversaire de la Révolutionsoviétique. Créée le 30 octobre 1957 au Conservatoire de Moscou parl'Orchestre symphonique d'Etat d'URSSsous la direction de NikolaïRakhline.

Grand orchestre bois par 3 (78 musiciens) : 3 flûtes, 3 hautbois, 3clarinettes, 3 bassons, 4 cors, 3 trompettes, 3 trombones, tuba,percussion, timbales, célesta, 2-4 harpes, 12 premiers violons, 12 secondsviolons, 10 altos, 8 Violoncelles, 6 contrebasses

Cette oeuvre, commémore le dimanche sanglant de janvier 1905. Le même sujet est traité dansune oeuvre chorale de 1951, Le Neuf janvier (Cycle de 10 poèmes pour choeur a cappela). Plutôtoeuvre d'images qu'oeuvre à programme, elle est en 4 mouvements.

La Place du Palais (Adagio), évoque l'esclavage du peuple et lesgeôles : triste harmonies aux cordes et harpes, sonneries de trompettes,roulements des tambours, rythme monotone, citations de chansons deprisonniers.

Le 9 janvier (Allegro) est construit sur un thème repris de lacomposition chorale de 1951.

Ce mouvement évoque la tuerie et l'échec de laRévolution de1905, avec une reprise du thème du premier mouvement, La Place du Palais, pour évoquer les responsables.

Mémoire éternelle (Adagio), est construit sur une marchefunèbre.

Le Tocsin (Allegro non troppo) fait entendre deschants révolutionnaire et revient au premier thème, palce du palais, pourévoquer la victoire des révolutionnaires.
