Bedford Arthur
1668-1745

Né à Tidenham (Gloucestershire), 8 septembre 1668, mort à Hoxton, 13 août 1745.
En 1684, il intègre le Brasenose College à Oxford, il est Bachelor Artium en février 1688 et ordonné prêtre la même année, Magister en juillet 1691.
En 1692, il est vicaire à Bristol, puis Chapelain de Wriothesley Russell, duc de Bedford.
En 1708, il publie The Evil and danger of Stage Plays. Dans cet ouvrage publié à Bristol, il prétend que le théâtre dissout la religion et qu'il introduit de mauvaises mœurs. En 1719, il publie un traité dans lequel il répertorie 7000 remarques quant à l'immoralité des pièces de théâtre jouées les années précédentes.
En 1724, il est engagé comme chapelain de l'hôpital de la Haberdashers' Company, à Hoxton.
Vers la fin de sa vie, il est chapelain de Frederick, prince de Galles.
