Banister John
v. 1663-1735
Né à Londres le 11 septembre 1662, mort à Londres le 9 janvier 1736.
Il est le fils de John (i) Banister (1624-1679), violoniste et joueur de flageolet, membre des 24 violons.
Lui-même est violoniste et joue de la flûte à bec, et en novembre 1679, un mois après la mort de son père, il prend sa place au sein des 24 violons.
On pense qu'il est le« J B » qui a rassemblé les pièces du The Most Pleasant Companion, or Choice New Lessons for the Recorder or Flute, publié à Lpondres en 1681.
Il a rédigé la préface du premier traité de hautbois, The Sprightly Companion(...), et en 1695, il publie avec John Carr des duos de flûtes à bec de Raphael Courteville (organiste de Sant James's, Piccadilly).
Il se marie la même année.
En 1700-1702, il est avec Robert King, l'agent d'Angelo Corelli (1653-1713) et de Nicola Cosimi (1667-1717).
Verts 1698, il organise des concerts au York Buildings avec entre autres Jean Baptiste Lœillet (1680-1730), James Paisible (1656-1721) et Gasparo Visconti (1683-ap. 1713).
Entre 1708 et 1710, il est premier violon dans l'orchestre du Queen's Theatre (Haymarket).
On conserve quelques mouvements de danse.
