Scotland Along the New Silk Road
17-20 june 2027, Nanjing
The Fifth World Congress of Scottish Literatures will be held at Nanjing Normal University in Nanjing, China, on 17-20 June 2027 and its theme focuses on “Scotland Along the New Silk Road”. The Congress are particularly keen for pre-formed panels, and with this in mind, I would like to invite proposal submissions for a panel on ‘Scots Song and its Transcontinental Connections’.
Papers that discuss 18th-century Scots song or Scots singers and connections with Asia-Pacific, Africa, and Europe i.e. countries that form the New Silk Road are especially welcomed. Please send a 250-300 word abstract to B.RKirkland@rcs.ac.uk by 6 January 2026. I will then prepare the panel proposal for submission to the conference organisers.

Registration Fee: Attendance for full conference Standard rate(Academic/Waged): ￥1,500(about £155).
Attendance for full conference Standard rate (Student): ￥800 (about £83).
The registration fee covers conference attendance on June 17-20, 2027 and related events including the pre-conference reception, lunches and dinners during the conference.
