Divino Sospiro - Centro de Estudos Musicais Setecentistasde Portugal (CEMSP) and PRIN 2022 The Performing Arts and Digital Humanities: A mapping of the dissemination of the Italian model of spectacle in Eighteenth Century Europe. The migration of professionals, the circulation of production practices and theatrical ideas at the roots of European identity. 

The DivinoSospiro-CEMSP and units of the Italian National Research Project 2022 (PRIN) organizean International Conference focused on the theme Economy, Management, and Staging of performances in the 17thand 18th centuries. The aim is to investigate the productionand management models of theatrical and musical events, as well as their circulation across Europe by considering both the activities of public venues in the principal European cities in the early modern era and the dense networkof private events promoted by the aristocracy.  In detail, our focus is on:

The history of musical institutions and theatrical venues;

Archival documents related to the management of performing events of every typology and genre;

Legalmeasures and organizational mechanisms related to private and/or publiccontexts;

Biographies of impresarios, managers, actors, singers, and other artists involved inproduction and management;

Contracts between artists and impresarios;

Strategiesof touring companies;

Fetes, festivals (civic and religious);

Other a ctivities associated with theatrical productions

The official languages of the conference are Portuguese, Italian, English and Spanish.

Abstracts in Wordformat (.doc), should not exceed 300 words. Please enclose in the same filebrief curriculum vitae of 150 words max., providing your name and surname, postal address, e-mail and telephone number, as well as your institutionalaffiliation.

The new deadline for sending abstracts is February 20th , 2024.

This year theconference is part of the events promoted by the PRIN 2022 The PerformingArts and Digital Humanities: A mapping of the dissemination of the Italian model of spectacle in Eighteenth Century Europe. The migration of professionals, the circulation of production practices and theatrical ideas atthe roots of European identity. 

Selected paperswill be included in a publication to be edited by the principal researchersinvolved in the project.
