Call for papers
The 2023 annual conference of the German Musicological Society (Gesellschaft für Musikforschung, GfM) will be hosted by Saarland University in Saarbrücken. Saarbrücken's border location with France, the university's focus on computer science, and the research projects of Saarbrücken's musicology department motivate the topics of the two principal symposia:
- Music and Computer science
- France: Second Republic and Second Empire (1848 to 1870)
The second symposium will be held in cooperation with the French Musicological Society (Société française de musicologie).
All musicologists – including junior researchers – are invited to contribute to the conference. Roundtables and presentations can be dedicated to the two topics mentioned above, or to any area of musicological research.
The Programme Committee welcomes proposals in the following formats:
- Individual paper (15-minute presentation + 15-minute discussion)
- Poster (Din A0 portrait format)
- Themed session or Roundtable (90 or 180 minutes)
- Study group symposium (90 or 180 minutes)
- Presentation of research projects (30-minute presentation + 15-minute discussion)
For the first time, the GfM will award a prize for the best posters presented during the conference.
Please submit your abstract in German, French or English via our registration tool between 1 and 28 February 2023
