nternational Meeting on instrumental performance and interpretation
The Conservatorio di Bologna organizes the first International Meeting on instrumental performance and interpretation that aims at encouraging the exchange of knowledge and experiences between students, teachers and researchers. The 2022 edition will be dedicated to the interpretation of Domenico Scarlatti's sonatas on the keyboard instruments most used for the performance nowadays: harpsichord, fortepiano, piano.
The meeting will take place over two days: the first day is dedicated to the student that will attend two masterclasses, the second to a conference with two key speeches and 6 presentations and that will be selected through a call.
April 1st: - Masterclass held by Enrico Baiano and Maria Luisa Morales, open to Bologna Conservatoire piano and harpsichord students. External students can participate according to the general rules for masterclasses of the Conservatoire and provided that there are places available.
- Concert of Bologna students on piano, harpsichord and fortepiano.
April 2nd: - Conference open to presentations by students, teachers, researchers that will need to send a proposal. Two key speeches, one by Enrico Baiano and one by Luisa Morales. Chairwomen: Maria Luisa Baldassari and Patrizia Prati. - Concert of Bologna students on piano, harpsichord and fortepiano.
Researchers, performers, students and teachers are invited to send a proposal for the conference addressing the following topics: 1) Scarlatti keyboard production;
2) Scarlatti sonatas editions;
3) Specific characters of the performance of Scarlatti sonatas on piano, harpsichord and fortepiano;
4) Differences in performance praxis, style and interpretation of Scarlatti sonatas on piano, harpsichord and fortepiano;
5) The performance tradition: methods, harpsichord and piano schools of interpretation and teaching.
Deadline for proposals: 15 February 2022.
The selection will be announced to each presenter on the 28th of February.
Please send an abstract of the presentation along with a short curriculum and the details of the technical requirements (instruments, internet connection, projector...) to the executive committee members email : patrizia.prati@consbo.it ; marialuisa.baldassari@consbo.it.
The presentation must last no longer than 20 minutes and can include short performances, live or recorded. At the end of each paper there will be a short discussion for 10 minutes. Due to the short time at disposition maximum of 6 presentations will be selected.
Costs for accommodation and travel are borne by the presenters Available instruments: double manual harpsichord, copy of a late Flemish instrument (Dulcken), F1-f5, 8'+8'+4+L; German fortepiano (Georg Haschka, Wien, ca 1820); Stenway coda piano.
The masterclass will take place in Sala Bossi, Conservatorio Giovan Battista Martini (piazza Rossini, 2 - Bologna) and at the Museo di San Colombano - Collezione Tagliavini (via Parigi, 5 – Bologna).
The conference will be in Sala Bossi, Conservatorio Giovan Battista Martini.
The concerts will take place in the Museo di S. Colombano (April 1st) and Sala Bossi (April 2nd)
The participation to the conference is free of charge and a registration is required: please write at least one day before the beginning of the conference to the addresses info.masterclass@consbo.it and marialuisa.baldassari@consbo.it.
The participation to the masterclass is subject to the rules of the Conservatorio Martini on this matter and to the availability of places. Active external participants are requested to enrol sending an email to the above addresses at least 4 days before the beginning of the masterclass.
Non active participants are requested to enrol at least one day before the beginning of the masterclass.
The participation to all activities is subject to the public health rules in force at the moment of the event.
