The joint meeting of the Pacific Southwest and Northern California Chapters of the AMS will be held on Saturday all day and Sunday morning, April 27 and 28, at the University of California, Riverside, CA. Proposals are invited for papers or other scholarly presentations (like lecture-recitals) on any subject of musicological interest. Papers or presentations should require no more than 20 minutes for full delivery, plus 5-10 minutes for questions and discussion. For further details, please see the chapters’ websites. This meeting will also feature the competition for the Ingolf Dahl Memorial Award in Musicology, which is given annually to the best student paper presented at the conference. Students must be currently enrolled in institutions within the boundaries of our two chapters. Dahl Competition abstracts will be assessed separately by a committee chaired by last year’s winner, Kirsten Paige. Three finalists will be chosen, all of whom will present their papers in the Sunday morning session of the meeting. An evaluation committee selected from those present at the meeting will then decide which paper receives the award.
Those wishing to make a presentation at the joint meeting and/or the Dahl competition should submit an abstract of not more than 350 words by Saturday, March 23, along with the proposed title, author's name and institutional affiliation, and a list of the equipment necessary for the presentation. All abstracts should be sent by email to the Pacific-Southwest Chapter Secretary, Kristi Brown-Montesano (kbrown -at- colburnschool.edu). Students entering the Dahl Competition should specify in the cover email their intention to participate.
