This conference brings together scholars, instrument makers, curators, and players to explore the ontology of the keyboard interface and its relationship to creative practices, cognition, gender, performance cultures, and the history of technology. The program features paper sessions, instrument demonstrations, recitals, and a tour of the instrument collection at the Deutsches Museum. Keynote talks will be given by Hans Fidom and Roger Moseley.
The conference is organized by Leon Chisholm and Katharina Preller of the research group "Materiality of Musical Instruments: New Approaches to a Cultural History of Organology," funded by the Leibniz Association.
