North American Conference on Video Game Music
March 30-31, 2019, Hartford

Conference Venue: The Hartt School, University of Hartford, West Hartford, CT
Scholars are invited to submit proposals for the sixth North American Conference on Video Game Music. The conference organizing and program committee is composed of Karen M. Cook (organizer, University of Hartford), Dana Plank (program chair, The Ohio State University), Jim Buhler (UT Austin), Neil Lerner (Davidson College), Elizabeth Medina-Gray (Ithaca College), Steven Reale (Youngstown State University), and Matthew Thompson (University of Michigan).
The keynote speaker for this year’s conference will be composer Wilbert Roget II.
We are soliciting proposals for presentations on any aspect of music in games, including, but not limited to:
- Intersections of game music and other media
- Critical and/or hermeneutic approaches to game music
- Game music and pedagogy
- Ethnographic approaches to game music
- Performance of game music inside and outside of games
We are also soliciting proposals for a virtual lightning talk panel. [More details on the conference website]
Additional information regarding the conference:
- Papers will be twenty minutes in length (except lightning talks), with ten minutes for discussion.
- Proposals are limited to 250 words plus paper title, but should include no identifying information, including metadata.
- In the body of an e-mail, include your name, institutional affiliation (if applicable), contact information, and paper title.
- Please also indicate whether you wish your paper to be considered only for an in-person version, only for a virtual lightning talk, or either. If no such indication is made, we will assume you plan to present your paper in person.
