Bridging Discourses and Disciplines in/via Music11-12 mars 2016, Ottawa Call For Papers: Ottawa Graduate Student Music Conference The Graduate Music Student Association at The University of Ottawa and the Carleton University Music and Culture Graduate Student Society are pleased to announce our first joint student conference. The conference will take place at the University of Ottawa on Friday March 11 and Carleton University on Saturday March 12, 2016. Dr. Lloyd Whitesell from McGill University and Dr. Michael Bakan from Florida State University will be featured as keynote speakers. The theme of the conference is Bridging Discourses and Disciplines in/via Music, and we welcome paper proposals pertaining to musicology, ethnomusicology, theory and analysis, popular music, performance, popular music, etc. Examples of paper topics that resonate with the conference theme include, but are not limited to: • Music genres and fusions Papers in other topics are also welcome. Submissions should be submitted electronically to ottawamusicconference -at- gmail.com by January 22nd, 2016. Please include your name, institutional affiliation, year and degree, technical requirements and contact information. Proposals must be sent in an attached word document and include a title and an abstract of 250 words (maximum), without identifying information in the abstract file. Proposals will be reviewed by the conference program committee and results will be announced no later than February 12, 2016.
