Au Petit Palais (Paris), Jusqu'au 28 juin 2015. Né en février 1715, à la fin du règne de Louis XIV, l'Opéra-Comique est l'une des trois plus anciennes institutions théâtrales de France avec l'Opéra de Paris et la Comédie-Française. En 2015, son tricentenaire prendra place dans le calendrier des commémorations nationales et motivera une saison artistique exceptionnelle. Cette exposition évoquant les arts plastiques et la scène se concentrera sur la période la plus faste de l'institution au tournant du XIXe et du XXe siècle. Entre 1870 et 1914 sont créés de grands chefs-d'œuvre, toujours joués aujourd'hui dans le monde entier. Carmen, Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Lakmé, Manon, Louise, Pelléas et Mélisande : autant de titres qui démontrent que l'Opéra-Comique est alors en France le rendez-vous des arts, des disciplines, des techniques et des esthétique

[+] Lire la suite...Utopian Listening: the Late Electroacoustic Music of Luigi Nono: Technologies, Aesthetics, Histories, Futures23-26 mars2016, Medfotd (USA MA) An International Conference/Workshop, co-sponsored by Tufts and CFP Deadline: August 15, 2015 Abstract of not more than 350 words plus 50-word biography to Joseph Auner (joseph.auner -at- tufts.edu) and Anne Shreffler (acshreff -at- fas.harvard.edu) Conference dates: March 23-26, 2016 Utopian Listening will bring together scholars, sound engineers, composers, and musicians to engage with the practical and aesthetic challenges of performing Luigi Nono's works with live electronics, considered within their historical and political contexts as well as their contemporary ramifications and potentialities. This interdisciplinary conference/workshop is open to participants with long involvement with this remarkable body of works as well as those coming to Nono's music for the first time. The format will combine roundtables, paper sessions, four concerts, and workshops for technicians, musicians, and scholars focusing on specific issues raised by the works to be performed in the concerts. We invite papers exploring musical, technical, aesthetic, analytical, -and political aspects of Nono's late electroacoustic works. Scheduled p mars ieces to be performed include: 'Con Luigi Dallapiccola' for percussion and ring modulator (1979), 'Das atmende Klarsein' for chorus, bass flute, live electronics, and tape (1981), 'A Pierre, dell'azzurro silenzio, inquietum' for contrabass flute, contrabass clarinet, and live electronics (1985), 'Post-Prae-Ludium per Donau' for tuba and live electronics (1987), 'La lontananza nostalgica utopica futura' for solo violin and 8 tapes (1988-89). The concerts will also include some of Nono's fixed media works such as 'La fabbrica illuminata' (1964) for soprano and four channel tape. Bodies of Art: Music, Literature, and Disability9 avril 2016, Misericordia University (Dallas, PA) CFP Deadline: October 1, 2015 The Department of Fine Arts and the Department of English at Misericordia University invite submissions of paper and panel proposals (3-4 speakers) that address the theme: Bodies of Art: Music, Literature, and Disability. As part of the university's Medical and Health Humanities initiative, this interdisciplinary conference seeks to bring together scholars of musicology, literature, and related disciplines for a one-day symposium that investigates issues related to: Specific representations of disability throughout music and literature, including works by disabled and nondisabled artists Scientific, anthropological, and vernacular images of disability and how they have influenced music and literature Performance in the everyday lives of disabled individuals Theorizing disability through the arts Narratives of illness and disability Examples of music/literature that represent and/or challenge stereotypes of disability Mental illness and creativity Accessibility (Ab)normalizing Literature, Music, and Thought Other topics related to the conference theme. Papers that are interdisciplinary in nature are especially welcome. Proposals for individual papers (20 minutes) should include: 1) full name, contact information, institutional affiliation; 2) Short bio (no more than 150 words); and 3) an abstract of no more than 300 words. Proposals for themed sessions should include: 1) full name, contact information, and institutional affiliation of all participants; 2) Short bio of all participants; 3) an abstract of no more than 700 words that summarizes the content of each contributor as well as a description of how the papers relate.
