Symposium "Wagner and us"

 

Uiversity of Melbourne, 6-8 Decembre 2013. Call for Papers

Scheduled to coincide with the performances of Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen in Melbourne, 18 November–13 December, the symposium "Wagner and Us" will explore and critique Richard Wagner's continuing cultural, political, and historical importance to contemporary society. The symposium, convened by Professor Kerry Murphy, is jointly hosted by The University of Melbourne, Monash University, and The Richard Wagner Society in Melbourne.

Topics to be covered include Wagner in Australia, Wagner and Anti-Semitism, Wagner in the Theatre, and the 'Wagner Industry', and others.

Invited Keynote Speakers include Slavoj i ek (UK/Slovenia), Patrick Carnegy (UK), Eva Rieger (Germany), and Hans Vaget (USA).

Call for Papers

Researchers are invited to submit proposals for papers of 20 minutes to be followed by 10 minutes discussion. Please note: as there are no parallel sessions only a limited number of papers will be accepted.

Proposals consisting of a title and abstract of no more than 250 words should be submitted by e-mail to the organising committee: submisions at wagnerandus.com.au by 30 September 2012. Acceptance of papers will be advised by 30 November 2012. It is anticipated that a Conference Proceedings will be published.

De nouvelles partitions en libre accès par The Society for Seventeenth-Century Music

 

La Société pour la musique du dix-septième siècle annonce la publication de deux nouvelles éditions, mises librement à disposition par sa librairie en ligne https://www.sscm-wlscm.org

Il s'agit d'une part de la musique pour clavecin de Richard Ayleward (1626 ? -1669), éditée par Andrew Woolley de l'université de Bangor. Les partision sont accompagnées d'exemples d'interprétation et de notes critiques.

D'autre part de deux motets de Pietre Verdina (v. 1600-1643), compositeur à la cour de Vienne. Des exemples d'exécution et de répétitions sont également disponibles. L'édition est de Andrew H. Weaver, de l'Université catholique d'Amérique.

La bibliothèque Web de musique du dix-septième siècle ( ISSN 2330-2429 ) est un service offert par la Société pour musique du dix-septième siècle, à ses membres et à la communauté musicale en général. Il présente de nouvelles éditions savantes de compositions du XVIIe siècle qui sont restées inédites ou qui ne sont pas disponibles dans le commerce.
